Hi everyone!

Weather permitting, we are planning an double dive trip to our local jewel Flinders Reef in North Moreton Island.

This trip is suitable for Open Water divers.

The boat ride in the club boat (DownUnder) is 1.5 hour each way, so if you are prone to seasickness be prepared.

Flinders reef is a small, isolated reef and the closest true coral reef to Brissy. As part of the protected moreton bay marine park, it is one of Queensland's most beautiful dive sites.

We love it so much, we went and mapped it (https://www.unidive.org/unidive-projects/frea/) and we made a Fotobook.

If you need more convincing for this trip, come to the shed and have a look at the book.

Total cost per person will depend on fuel use but is usually around $100-120 (including tanks, snacks, carpooling and boat costs).

Spots usually book out super fast... so you have to be quick once registration opens ;-)

As usual, we will give priority to people who can help make the trip happening:

- Covid Delegate (you'll be in charge of informing us about the latest requirements how to stay safe)

- Finance person (you'll be in charge of collecting money at the end)

- Tank transport (depending on where we fill the tanks, they may need to be dropped and picked up, so a big car/ute would be helpful).

Each diver must:

  • Be a current Unidive member, medically fit to dive, who passed the swimming test.
  • Have an Open water certfication or equivalent.
  • Have dived in the last 6 months.
  • Dive with an SMB/safety sausage, cutting device and whistle. Note: These items are NOT supplied. Safety sausage and shears can be purchased from Unidive.
  • Bring their own mask, snorkel, and fins as Unidive does not provide them.
  • Dive within their certification and capability.
  • Follow instructions given by the boat handler, the dive supervisor, and the COVID safety delegate.
  • Observe COVID safety precautions as per Unidive's COVID safety policy.
  • Agree that contact details of participants will be provided to Qld Health upon request for the purpose of contact tracing.
  • Help out throughout the whole day.
  • Be able to attend a trip meeting the Thursday beforehand (usually at 6:30 pm at the Unidive shed or on Zoom).

If you have any questions about the trip, please email dive@unidive.org.
