Event information
This event is full.
On Saturday, 10. March, we (Dave, Jens & Jan) are taking Down Under to Flinders Reef. Flinders Reef is a small isolated sandstone platform reef and a true coral reef just north of Moreton Island. The reef is home to an abundance of marine life, including wrasse, sweetlip, trevally, parrotfish and tropical fish, as well as turtles. It's said to be one of Queensland's most popular dive sites and, if you haven't been there yourself yet, you might have heard of it in the context of FREA during last year.
This trip is open for all levels of divers. With depths around 15m Flinders Reef is a site, which is suitable for open water divers. There are 9 spots in total on this trip.
We will start the day early at around 6:00 at the shed, and will be returning to shore around 16:00 to be back at the shed by 18:00, where we then unload and wash the boat. As usually, dive gear is your responsibility with Unidive gear being available.
There will be a trip meeting at the shed on the Thursday before, 8. March 2018, at 18:30 for a briefing. Volunteers are required for the following tasks: finance, snacks and trip report. Also, we need someone who has a car large enough to fit some tanks and who is volunteering to drive. As always, priority will be given to those volunteering for some of the tasks.
The expected cost will be between AUD$ 80 and AUD$ 100.
