1. Cherubs or 9-Mile - EXP - Lock - Down Under -
Event information
This event is full.
Cherubs cave is situated on the other side of Moreton Island and is known as a Grey Nurse aggregation site. There are some lovely rocky outcrops and formations for the fish life to hide in, and some nice corals.
Depth is around 30 metres. We will dive at Cherubs and Hendersons Rock.
Whales are also often sighted on the surface and can be heard underwater.
The man in the grey suit has also made an appearance previously.
The dive is for experienced divers who have the skills to navigate on an unfamiliar site (given a map); hold position in a current, and deploy a safety sausage below the surface. The boat ride is about 1 1/2 hours and either I, or Bre will be driving so unfortunately there won’t be much time for new boathandlers.
We will leave the shed at 6 am, drive to Cleveland (or Tweed), run up the inside of Straddie, jump the bar and then up the eastern side of Moreton Island. Likely to be back at 6pm. Cost is about $90 for two dives.
You will need to come to the shed on the Thursday prior for a meeting. Registration does not guarantee a spot and an email will be sent out.
