Stradbroke Island Dive Trip 23rd to 25th November 2018
G’day fellow Unidivers,
We will be attempting to dive with the Manta Rays which hang around Manta Ray Bommie from October to January each year. The dives will be to no more than 18m so this trip is perfect for Open Water divers. If there are enough divers, two waves may operate each day. Each wave will consist of a double dive. Exact dive locations will depend on weather and the dive group’s certification mix.
A meeting will take place on Thursday night (6:30pm 22nd November) at the Unidive shed to sort out the trip logistics.
In order to attend this trip you'll need to pay a non-refundable, but transferable deposit of $50.00 per person. Please note if you're not able to attend the trip it's your responsibility to find another suitable diver to take your spot. Otherwise the $50.00 is a donation to the trip (and covers your spot on the ferry which has been booked).
The plan is to meet at the Cleveland ferry terminal (6:30pm 23rd November) for the 7pm ferry, returning on the 3pm or 4pm Sunday ferry. This puts us back in Cleveland around 5pm. Cars for ride sharing are required to/from Cleveland.
Accommodation at Ken’s place has character and is best describes as back-packer dorm style. So you will need to supply your own sheets/sleeping bag/pillow/towel etc; all that is provided is a mattress. Friday dinner is not supplied, all other meals & snacks are. Please note any dietary requirements when signing up.
Dive gear is not included in the price and is your responsibility through the club. Tanks & weights are supplied by Ken on the island.
The total cost will be around $300.00 - $350.00 (4 dives, 2 night’s accommodation and approx. $50-70 for food, ferry and fuel).
Priority will be given to those willing to help with: shopping, cooking, cleaning, dive operations and transport. Please indicate when signing up if you are willing to assist. Feel free to email us (james.mcpherson2@griffithuni.edu.au and emmaorton193@gmail.com) or talk to me at the Unidive shed on a Thursday night if you have any questions.
Cheers
James & Emma
