Unidive is heading to Bundaberg !!
We plan to dive the following:
Friday 8th August
- Travel to Bundaberg (leave after midday)
Saturday 9th August
- 2 x dives HMAS Tobruk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qYvVIlDPFo )
- 1 x night dive Cochrane Artificial Reef
Sunday 10th August
- 2 x boat dives at either MV Karma or Cochrane Artificial Reef
- Travel back to Brisbane
Boat diving will be with commerical operator Jaws scuba, who have capacity for 6 x unidive divers with 1 x guide Jaws scuba and skipper
This trip requires advanced planning so will need two trip meetings to agree on and secure accomodation and diving charter well in advance.
As Bundaberg is 4.5-5 hrs drive (plus rest stops) will be backpackers accommodation in Bundaberg for Friday/Satuday nights.
We have secured a 4-bed dorm and a 2-bed dorm.
Dive gear will be washed and stored overnight at Jaws scuba.
Please note the requirements below before you sign up as this is an Experienced trip. Each diver must meet the following:
Experienced trip requirements
- Be a current Unidive member, medically fit to dive, who passed the swim test.
- Have an Advanced certification or equivalent from a recognised agency.
- Have a minimum of 25 dives at 10 different dive sites.
- Dive within their certification and capability.
- Ensure that they have all required dive gear (except tanks and weights, which are provided):
- Please bring your own mask, snorkel and fins, as Unidive does not provide these.
- If you need to hire other equipment such as BCD, reg and wetsuit, arrange these before the trip (typically at the Unidive shed on Thursday night before the trip).
- You must dive with an SMB / safety sausage, cutting device and whistle. Note: These items are NOT supplied.
- Please note that there will be no time to sort out gear hire on the day of the trip.
- Follow instructions given by the Boat Handlers and the Dive Supervisor.
- Help out throughout the whole day.
- Notify the Dive Officer and Trip Organiser of any changes to their personal circumstances as declared in the event registration form.
- Attend the trip meetings (Thursday beforehand at 6:30 pm at the Unidive shed) and Thursday (6:30pm) immediatly after registration

- Gloves + torch
Night Diving Requirements
- 2 x torches
Cost Estimates ($500 plus food )
- Backpackers accommodation $50 per night (total $100)
- Boat diving
- Double dive $150 (tanks and weights) gear hire from unidive is extra
- Tripple dive ~$200 (assumed cost based on distance and tank refills to be confirmed)
- Car pooling. $50 each (estimate with 2 x cars) may be possible to take 12 seater van, which will reduce costs
- Food up to you.
