Cancelled - Fluoro Night Dive - Sunreef Mooloolaba - OW - Eloise/Romain
Event information

"Fluorescence night diving is like finding a hidden treasure."
Let's find that treasure together! We are organising a diving trip for a double dive with Sunreef Mooloolaba. The Sunreef team can guide beginners with no night dive experience. However, we'll be moving at a slow pace and with corals around us so you'll need your buoyancy skills to kick in!
The plan is to do our first dive in the afternoon so we get familiar with the site. Then we can be amazed by how different it looks when we dive it at night after the surface interval.
What's a fluoro dive? "With the ultraviolet light we provide you, you'll see this marine life lights up in unexpected colours and places. Corals glow with a bright florescence that you otherwise would be unable to detect." Check out the photos and more details here: https://sunreef.rezdy.com/302731/flouro-night-reef-single-dive
We'll leave Brisbane early in the afternoon and will be back late in the evening, as we won't be back to the dive shop before 7/7.30 pm. A group is interested in staying overnight in Mooloolaba, but it hasn’t been organised yet. There's a field open in the registration form for you to indicate your interest in staying up there - but it’s an unconfirmed option at that stage.
Cost & Volunteer jobs
The cost will be $188.10 each for the double dive if the boat is full exc. gear hire (but incl. tanks and weights). You will be asked to pay in advance, and if you cancel your participation, you will be responsible for finding a replacement.
There will also be some contribution to carpooling and snacks ($10-20pp, depending on the racing car and master chef skills, but we try to keep it low).
We have some volunteer jobs to give away to make this day happening, including:
- drivers for car pooling (we try to look after the environment and will take as few cars as possible, so if you decide to drive by yourself, you will not get fuel contribution!)
- snacks/food etc.
- trip report
Gear Hire
Tanks, weights and a boat are included.
It is your responsibility to sort out your own gear hire before the day of the dive. You will need your own mask, snorkel, fins and sense of adventure. It is a legal requirement that you dive with an SMB/safety sausage and cutting device. Unidive does not hire these. We do hire other stuff though! Like wetsuits, hooded vests, BCDs and regs. Check the website for the full list and gear hire costs.
For the night dive, Sunreef will provide a UV torch to see the fluorescent corals. This does not count as a light source. You will need two torches per person in addition to the UV. You can hire torches from Sunreef at $10 per torch.
Pre Dive Meeting
The pre-dive meeting will be held at The Shed on Thursday, 31 Oct, at 6.30 pm.
