A bit about the weekend

The ferry will leave from Cleveland at 6.00pm on Friday 26 March. Please ensure you are at the ferry parking area no later than 5:30pm on Friday. Only four cars will be travelling over so this will allow us plenty of time to load up the vehicles with everyone’s gear.

Chris will provide you will more details about the diving in his briefing to you on Friday night and multiple briefings over the weekend.  Generally the training dives will go first followed by the refreshers. Everyone will be asked to assist to prepare the boat ready for each dive. This will ensure fast and efficient departure of the first boat and quick turn around time of the second boat.

Sunday dives will take place in the same order. Everyone will be expected to assist with both boat loads of divers.

Once everyone has had some lunch we will need to ensure the houses are clean and tidy, the fridges are empty and all dive gear is packed away ready to be loaded.

If time allows we’ll squeeze in some Gelato before driving to the ferry to Brisbane which is booked for 5pm.

Food

Dinner on Friday night will be your responsibility. Please ensure you are organised and bring food with you, or eat before you come. There is limited choice on the ferry and you will be busy unloading and listening to briefings once we arrive on the island.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for Saturday and Sunday. As will boat snacks and general snacks.

Dinner will be provided on Saturday night. Depending on training and briefings, we might be able to have a sneaky game of 'Underwater Charades' so you had better brush up on your skills. There will be prizes for the winning team.

Due to COVID, extra care will need to be taken with food prep etc. It would be appreciated if everyone could complete the food handling course that was mentioned at our last training session. The course will only take around 20 minutes and is free. It can be found here.

Accommodation

For those of you who haven’t been to Ken’s before, he has two houses on a large property. There is the front house (closest to the road) and the back house (at the back of the property). I will allocate you into your house before the weekend and advise which rooms you will be in. Couples will have preferences for the double beds. Dormitory style rooms will be mixed.
