VMR Bribie Island runs Marine Radio courses from time to time, participants are able to obtain their Short Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP) by doing this course.  As a member of VMR Bribie, Unidive is able to have some of our members participate in this course.

A SROCP is a pre-requisite to being a Boat Handler with Unidive.

The cost to do the course through VMR Bribie is approximatley $140 plus some costs for fuel for car pooling to get to VMR Bribie and includes the licence from Australian Maritime College.  This is approximatley half the cost of doing the SROCP through a commercial operation.

The format of the course is:

Day 1, theory review.  You will receive a course handbook prior to the course and will need to have read through prior to the course.

Day 2, 50 question multiple choice exam with a 75% pass mark and a practical test with a Marine radio.

These dates in October are not fully locked in, VMR Bribie are currently doing renovations at their club rooms which is causing delays to running courses.
