Event information
Registration for this event closes at Wed 29 Jul 2026 09:00.
WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?
Everyone!
If you haven't dived in the last six months or feel rusty and nervous about entering the ocean, this refresher workshop is for you. Please note that if you haven't dove in 6 months this workshop (or a commercial Refresher / ReActivate course) will be compulsory to sign up for any Unidive events.
Before the night, you will have an opportunity to review your theory. Then, you will come to the club to review equipment, ask an experienced diver questions, and spend an hour in the pool practising dive skills and fine-tuning buoyancy/ trim.
Juniors: If your parent or guardian isn't participating, they will still need to stay the whole time and watch.
PRICE:
$40
The cost is $40 and includes pool entry and use of the club wetsuit, weights, BCD, regulators, and a cylinder of air. Thanks to our volunteers, all proceeds go towards running more training events, including free pool nights and workshops.
You will need to bring your own fins, mask, snorkel, and bathers.
When you fill out your registration form, please read the event waiver, which includes the terms and conditions, as well as the refund conditions.
WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
BEFORE THE WORKSHOP
You will receive a link to an online quiz upon registering (scroll down on registration confirmation email). This will include questions and resources to help you revise scuba diving theory, as well as provide your workshop lead with an idea of your current diving level and areas for improvement. If you have any questions while reading this information, please don't hesitate to reach out. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions in person during the workshop.
GEAR HIRE + THEORY REVIEW + DIVE BRIEF
Meet no later than 6:00 pm at the club shed at 159 Sir William MacGregor Dr, St Lucia QLD 4067 (https://maps.app.goo.gl/WcC6gPR81YwpBd1g8). As soon as you arrive, start trying on wetsuits and BCDs. Your workshop lead will then gather the group and go through how to assemble the equipment, dive theory questions and what will happen in the pool.
POOL SESSION
Get in the water by 7 pm for an hour and a half of skills training with an experienced diver. Each session is different and highly individualised to the divers' needs to improve their dive skills, confidence, buoyancy, and trim. If you have any particular skills you would like to practice, please ask. We will get out the water, clean and return all gear, shower/ get warm by 9 pm and then many members choose to go out for dinner together.
PRE-REQUISITE:
SWIM TEST PASSED
If an error message appears saying that you are not in the correct group when going to register, you have not been added to the swim test passed group, and so you need to send your UQ Swim Cert to membership@unidive.org.
An updated UQ Swim Certificate is a 400m swim and a 2-minute float/tread water supervised by a UQ lifeguard, required by all members every two years. This can be completed at the UQ Aquatic Centre (https://maps.app.goo.gl/h5Tz4bpDyXAEfU268) Monday-Friday 8 am - 3 pm and weekends 9 am- close. If you would like to complete at other times, simply ring the centre to double-check they have a lifeguard available, as they generally can accommodate running swim tests at any time. You can also complete your UQ swim test during Unidive free pool nights; however, not during the same night as your refresher workshop.
REGISTRATIONS:
Registrations close the day before to ensure everyone has time to complete the online quiz. No exceptions
If you can not attend or miss the registration deadline for this event, please look at the website calendar for future workshops. All Unidive events depend on volunteers. If you need a refresher for a diving holiday, please also consider contacting the local dive centres who are more equipped to help you. Unidive runs refreshers to help its members be safe, confident and prepared for Unidive ocean events.
