Logistics

Trip briefing

Date: Thursday, 20 August
Time: 6:15 pm
Location: UniDive Shed

Attendance at the trip briefing is mandatory. We'll cover the dive plan, safety information, logistics, and organise carpooling.

If you are borrowing UniDive equipment, please arrive at 6:00 pm to collect your gear before the briefing.

Trip day

The exact meeting time at GCDA depends on weather and boat scheduling but is expected to be around 7:30 am, so plan for an early start (leave Brisbane 6 am).

GCDA location:

After the dives, we'll head out for lunch together on the Gold Coast before returning to Brisbane.

Borrowed UniDive equipment (excluding cylinders and weights) should be rinsed and returned either that afternoon, or at the following Thursday club night. Carpool drivers can decide which option suits everyone best.

Dive Site: Wonder Reef

Wonder Reef is Australia's first purpose-built floating reef, located just 2.5 km offshore from Main Beach on the Gold Coast. The site features nine towering floating reef structures,  at approximately 8 metres and 18 metres, and anchored to the seabed at 30 metres. This unique underwater environment has quickly become home to an ever-growing diversity of marine life, including nudibranch, lobster, Schools of baitfish, Giant Queensland groupers, Gold-spotted rock cod, Mulloway, and growing coral communities.
