UniDive Pool Night – Participant Declaration and Waiver

By registering for this event, I acknowledge and agree to the statements below that apply to my selected ticket option.

Applicable to All Participants (Options 1A–2E)

☐ I accept responsibility for my own safety and wellbeing throughout the event.

☐ I understand this is primarily a self-directed member activity and is not a UniDive mentor-led scuba training session. Official UniDive training workshops are separately registered activities and involve a mentor–mentee relationship with the workshop lead.

☐ I confirm I will only participate in activities that are within my current training, experience and physical ability.

☐ I will follow all instructions provided by UniDive volunteers, UQ Aquatic Centre staff and event organisers.

☐ I understand that swimming, snorkelling, freediving and scuba diving involve inherent risks, including the risk of serious injury or death, and I voluntarily accept those risks.

☐ I understand that unsafe behaviour or failure to follow event rules may result in me being asked to leave the event and may affect my ability to attend future UniDive events.

☐ To the extent permitted by law, I release and hold harmless UniDive, its volunteers, committee members and The University of Queensland from claims arising from my voluntary participation in this event, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

Option 1A – Free Swim

☐ I understand that this ticket does not include scuba equipment or scuba diving activities.

Option 1B – UQ Swim Test

☐ I understand that I am responsible for ensuring I am medically fit to complete the swim test.

☐ I understand that the swim test consists of a 400 m continuous swim followed by 2 minutes treading water under lifeguard supervision.

Applicable to All Scuba Diving Participants (Options 2A–2E)

☐ I hold an appropriate scuba certification for the activities I intend to undertake.

☐ I will dive only within my certification, training and experience.

☐ I will dive with a suitable buddy and complete an appropriate buddy check before entering the water.

☐ I will monitor my own gas supply and finish every dive with a minimum of 50 bar remaining.

☐ I will use equipment that I know how to operate safely and will immediately report any equipment faults to a UniDive volunteer.

☐ I understand that UniDive volunteers present at the event are not acting as my instructor or dive guide unless I am participating in a separately registered official workshop.

Option 2A – Bring Your Own Scuba Equipment

☐ I understand that I am responsible for providing all scuba equipment required for my participation.

☐ I confirm that my equipment is suitable for use and that I know how to operate it safely.

Option 2B – Loan Cylinder + Weights Only

☐ I understand that UniDive provides only a cylinder, weights and weight belt under this ticket option, and I am responsible for providing all other required scuba equipment.

☐ I understand that all loan equipment remains the property of UniDive.

☐ I agree to inspect loan equipment before use and immediately report any faults or damage.

☐ I agree to clean and return all UniDive equipment by 9:00 pm.

Option 2C – Gear Subscription + Cylinder + Weights

☐ I confirm that I have a current UniDive Gear Subscription.

☐ I understand that this option provides a cylinder, weights and weight belt for Pool Night, while my Gear Subscription covers my other eligible UniDive loan equipment.

☐ I agree to inspect all loan equipment before use and immediately report any faults or damage.

☐ I agree to clean and return all equipment required to be returned that evening by 9:00 pm.

Option 2D – Loan Full Set of UniDive Equipment

☐ I understand that this option includes the available UniDive scuba equipment specified for Pool Night.

☐ I understand that all loan equipment remains the property of UniDive.

☐ I agree to inspect all loan equipment before use and immediately report any faults or damage.

☐ I agree to clean and return all equipment by 9:00 pm.

☐ I accept responsibility for loss or damage caused through misuse, negligence or failure to return equipment.

☐ I understand that equipment availability cannot be guaranteed. If equipment is unexpectedly unavailable, my hire fee will be refunded and I may be given priority at a future Pool Night.

Option 2E – Scuba Gear Waiting List

☐ I understand that joining the waiting list does not guarantee that scuba equipment will be available.

☐ I understand that UniDive events and weekly equipment loans have priority and I will be contacted if suitable equipment becomes available.

☐ If equipment becomes available and I participate in scuba diving, I agree to all declarations above that apply to scuba diving and loan equipment participants.

By registering for this event, I confirm that I have read, understood and agree to all statements applicable to my selected ticket option.
